WHO is Sam JudELson

‍Sam began his creative endeavors at an early age. Born into a large artist live/work community developed by his architect/sculptor father, he was creating unique artwork and assisting in the studio as a preschooler. His father authored a book on creativity, while his mother used the creative arts therapeutically in educational, healthcare, and community settings, and Sam partnered with them both in their endeavors.  His extended family also seemed to breed artists. With artistry in his blood, he was destined for a life of creativity.

Education and Expression
‍Growing up learning and working in the studio, Sam was always self-taught, creative, and expressive beyond his schooling. At age 11, he completed his first large scale kinetic sculpture chosen for a professional juried show at the Art Complex Museum. He attended a specialized high school for architecture and design, where he designed unique architectural spaces. He was selected as 1 of 10 USA, HS representatives, to feature his Interior Design Firm at Virtual Enterprises International Trade Show in Austria. There, his design and business acumen as well as personal passion, led to him breaking virtual sales records.

At Hampshire College Sam accessed the esteemed Lemelson Assistive Technology Development Center. There he designed assistive technology innovations, fabricated a self-playing guitar, and spent spare time “Frankenstein-ing” contraptions together with estranged parts.

Sam devoted the past 15 years to the fusion of his technological know-how and his artistic eye. Continuing to be rigorously self-taught, he sought out mentors, studied design applications, employed a plethora of mediums, and engaged in a wide scope of endeavors, networks, and trainings to acquire his current diverse skill-set.

Collaboration and Consultation
‍Sam’s passion and unique creative flair manifests most fully in collaboration with other professionals. This has included providing consulting and design services to product creators, architects, real estate developers, artists, jewelers, event planners, and a range of other organizations, professionals, and entrepreneurs. He also co-managed with an Architecture/Design professor, an artists/designers collective and studio of professionals and interns. They engaged in collective brainstorming—developing artistic projects that blurred the boundary between sculpture, architecture, and product design.

Sam’s personal creations range from large constructed sculptures, to home product designs, lines of jewelry, and promotional and personal items. He has also folded paper creations of all scales (8' - 2")based on Origami principles and his own original fractal folding patterns. He's generated computer art for light boxes and windows, 3-D printed commercial products and logos, brought to life unique animations, and more.  Give Sam a design problem and he will create a solution.

Viewpoint and Vision
‍As a team player, Sam established relationships with key people in industrial/product design, carpentry/construction, & robotics/automation, whom he helped to improve workflows, designs, and outputs of their ongoing projects.Through leagues of research he's focused on emerging technologies that are shifting the landscape of design-based industries. He is constantly identifying software, hardware, and innovative production methods best suited to leverage unique, customizable, sustainable, and parametric design practices.

His passion for the future of design bridges technology and the three dimensional. In a world that tends to put everything in boxes, Sam always takes a both/and approach: integrating nature & technology, analog & digital, and artistry & design. He is excited to apply his unique combination of knowledge, creativity, skill, and experience to breathe new life into both product design and creative collaboration.
