The Clinger began with a basic premise: everyday items should solve problems without becoming burdens.
My re-design drew inspiration from the founder’s desire to address frustrations like lost lighters, clumsy fingers, unwelcome odors, or crushed pre-rolls. I engineered a solution that was pocket-friendly, smell-proof, durable, and compatible with user preferences for various lighters and smokes.
I was responsible from design concept through production: sketching ideas, developing 3D CAD models, prototyping to test fit and durability, and refining tolerances to account for mass-manufacturing. My process prioritized clean geometry and versatility, while elevating safety and comfort for users.
I also enhanced The Clinger’s visual identity and packaging, ensuring that product presentation communicated its clean utility. Every touchpoint—from product surfaces to marketing—matched the ethos: clever design, honest materials, and user-centered details.
The Clinger now delivers more than a useful tool. It transforms how lighter essentials are carried, resolving pain points, and offering a compact, refined design. It’s a product driven by precision, empathy, and the belief that simple well-crafted objects can enhance daily living.
